FCO lifts travel advice warning for majority of Tunisia

The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has amended its travel advice for Tunisia, enabling British holidaymakers to travel to most of the country, including the capital Tunis and popular tourist resorts such as Sousse.

In an updated statement on its website, the FCO said it no longer advised against travel to Tunisia, ‘except for parts of the south and interior and certain areas near the borders with Algeria and Libya’.

The FCO initially amended its advice following the Sousse terror attack in which 38 international tourists were killed. The new updated advice from the FCO will be welcomed by tour operators, who had cancelled their programmes for much of 2017.
